Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that it had arrested two militant associates of militant outfit Lashkar-e Taiba during a naka checking in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Police in Budgam along with 53 RR during joint naka checking at Railway bridge Mohanpora arrested 02 militant associates linked with proscribed militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba and recovered incriminating materials & live ammunition from their possession.
They said the militant associates have been identified as Mohammad Ashraf Shaksaz r/o Kralnar Kalshipora & Mursaleen Maqbool Bhat r/o Shamsabad Budgam.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested militant associates were providing shelter, logistics and other material support including transportation of arms and ammunition to the militants of proscribed militant outfit LeT in various areas of Budgam, it said.
They further said the arrested militant associates have been in touch with the PaK militant commanders through various social media platforms and were also in constant touch with Lashkar e Toiba commanders in Kashmir.
Incriminating material including posters of proscribed militant outfit LeT and live ammunition 30 rounds of AK 47 & 07 rounds of Chinese pistol were recovered from the possession of the arrested militant associates, it reads.
Accordingly, a case FIR number 207/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Budgam and investigation into the matter has been initiated, the statement added. (KDC)
