Anantnag : Forest Protection Force Kuthar control Room Saturday evening seized illicit timber in Utterso block falling under Anantnag forest division.

 

A senior Forest Protection Force officer told that after receiving specific inputs of illicit timber smuggling, a party of Forest Protection Force Control Room raided the spot leading to seizure of 10 logs of Kail measuring 49 Cubic Feet in Utterso Block in Compartment Number 70/K. The officer termed the seizure “a big achievement in prevailing cold conditions.”

DFO Anantnag has confirmed the seizure of the illicit timber from the specified site. “The team deserves due appreciation for the haul”, the officer said.

The locals have hailed the action by the department concerned even as demanded intervention from Lieutenant Governor led dispensation to reshuffle the ‘overstaying staff’ in Kuthar, Achabal, Chittergul, Utterso blocks.

 

The locals have alleged that many of those overstaying employees have miserably failed to stop the ongoing rampant timber smuggling in their respective jurisdictions. (GNS)
