A delegation from the village told KR that they are living under constant fear due to low lying electric wires tied with trees and decaying electric poles.

“There are around fifty households living at the mercy of nature”, said a local Nissar Ahmad Shah adding despite time to time representations regarding the issue, no one has come to their help.

“Due to low-lying overhead transmission lines, we are scared to venture out and go for work. There have been many incidents of people getting injured after coming in contact with these power lines,” the local said.

Echoing the concerns of his co-villager, Waheed Ahmad Shah rued the lackadaisical approach of authorities concerned, alleging that every once they bring the issue to the notice of authorities, they are returned on one pretext or the other.

“They have been taking us on a ride for nearly two decades now”, he lamented.

When contacted, Executive Engineer Bashir Ahmad told they are doing their best to get the things done as soon as possible. “We will expedite the process of installing the poles at all specified places and will likely meet the objective before December end”, he further said. (KR)
