Amidst escalating climate-induced vulnerabilities and transboundary disasters, the Stimson Centre will hold a webinar on Climate Diplomacy in South Asia: Transboundary Challenges, Collective Solutions on May 1.
In an effort to confront the pressing challenges posed by climate change in South Asia, South Asian Voices (SAV) has partnered with The Third Pole to initiate a dialogue aimed at fostering regional cooperation. The collaborative endeavour aims to address the transboundary implications of climate-induced vulnerabilities and disasters that have increasingly impacted the region.
The initiative comes at a pivotal moment as South Asian states grapple with a myriad of climate change challenges, including managing shared water resources and addressing the surge in climate-induced migration. These challenges, compounded by geopolitical rivalries and structural barriers, highlight the urgent need for collective action and collaboration among regional stakeholders.
The joint series, led by SAV and The Third Pole, seeks to stimulate discussions on critical issues such as climate migration, water sharing, and disaster management. Authors contributing to the series will reflect on their recent works for SAV, shedding light on innovative approaches to tackling these complex challenges.
During the collaborative event, panelists will explore the barriers hindering effective regional cooperation and propose actionable steps to overcome them. Through fostering dialogue and suggesting concrete solutions, the initiative aims to pave the way for a more collaborative and resilient approach to addressing the consequences of climate change in South Asia.
