New Delhi: Home Minister of India Amit Shah on Saturday said that Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood will be restored after the delimitation process.
First delimitation, then the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood – that will be the process. But whoever says otherwise, is trying to create confusion,” Hindustan Times quoted Shah as saying
The Indian Home Minister made these comments during a session moderated by Shashi Shekhar, the editor-in-chief of the news organisation, on the final day of HTLS 2021.
“Article 370 has been in Kashmir for 75 years, Why was there no peace? There is peace in Kashmir after the revocation of Article 370. The tourism is up,” the report quoted Shah further saying.
He also said that Kashmir is being prioritised for social welfare programmes in India and citizens of Jammu and Kashmir have “welcomed” the change.
Pertinently, the political and socio-religious organisations based in Kashmir have been demanding the restoration of Article 370 scrapped by the BJP led Government of India on August 5, 2019.
