Srinagar, Dec : On World International Day of People with Disability (IDPD), the Deaf and Dumb Association (D&DA) held a protest in Srinagar on Friday and urged the administration to fulfill their demands.
The protesters demanded special schools and colleges for their education.
State president of the association, Abdul Rashid Bhat said, “The world disability day is celebrated globally and every country provides new schemes for disabled but unfortunately in Jammu and Kashmir we have been struggling for our rights for the last 20 years.”
“The rights which our constitution has given to us are being violated in J&K and we are facing injustice, celebrating events on this day is only a diversion by the government. We will not be forced to hit the streets if the disability act 2016 and the schemes are implemented fully on the ground,” Bhat said.
They said that they appealed the government many a times in the past but only got fake promises and thus they are celebrating this day as black day—(KNO)
