Pulwama : Scores of inhabitants from Reshipora Awantipora Tuesday lodged a protest and blocked Naina-Padgampora road over persistent water shortage in the area.

The protesters, as per, staged a sit-in in the middle of the road bringing the vehicular traffic to a complete halt. Raising slogans against Jal Shakti Department, the protestors alleged that they are being met with indifference towards the genuine despite bringing it in the notice of officials on several occasions.

“We have been facing an acute shortage of water supply for past several months now, however the department is not taking the issue into consideration”, a local part of the protest said.

“We are making a fervent appeal to the department higher-ups to look into the matter for an early redressal”, he added.

The protestors dispersed peacefully after pacified by a police team and the road made thorough for vehicular traffic. (GNS)
