JKSSB green-lights recruitment of foresters after 16 years of wait

Candidates thank Chairman Khalid Jahangir for expediting the process

Srinagar: After nearly 16 years of wait, the J&K Services Selection Board green lights the recruitment of foresters, thanks to its chairman Khalid Jahangir.

JKSSB had advertised the notification for the post of Forester, Divisional Cadre Kashmir but due to legal wrangles, the recruitment process got stuck.

Like the ongoing recruitment process of assistant information officers, class IV, and various other posts, which were pending for several years, Jahangir expedited the recruitment process of foresters and junior scale stenographers.

“We waited for almost 16 years for the recruitment process to start. It would have been impossible without the incumbent Chairman of the JKSSB. We are really thankful to him,” said an aspiring forester Muhammad Rafi.
The J&K Services Selection Board convened the 181st  Board meeting under the chairmanship of Khalid Jahangir to consider various agenda items including the selection process with respect to the post of Forester Divisional Cadre Jammu/Kashmir, Selection List of the Candidates for the post of Deputy Superintendent (ARI and Training Department), disposal of representation of candidates who had applied for the post of Junior Scale Stenographer and preparation for forthcoming Examination for the various posts under PM Package for Migrant and Non-Migrant Kashmiri Pandits.

During the meeting after due consideration, it was decided that in pursuance of the directions of the High Court, the selection process for the post of Forester, Divisional Cadre Jammu /Kashmir, advertised vide Advertisement Notification no. 08 of 2010 and Divisional Cadre Kashmir vide Advertisement Notification no. 03 of 2004 shall be taken forward in accordance with rules and criteria governing the field.

JKSSB asked the Controller of Examinations to initiate the necessary steps.

“The notification for the walk test in this regard shall be notified soon,” JKSSB said.

The Board also decided to release the selection list of the candidates for the post of Deputy Superintendent, (ARI and Training Department) State Cadre, advertised vide Advertisement Notification no 10 of 2005.

Apart from this, the Board deliberated on the issue pertaining to the representations submitted by the candidates for the post of Junior Scale Stenographer.

After noting all the facts placed before it, the Board decided to proceed ahead with the selection process for the post of Junior Scale Stenographer, advertised vide notification no. 01 of 2014.

The Board also reviewed the status of arrangements for the Computer Based Test for the various posts advertised under PM Package for Migrant and Non-migrant Kashmiri Pandits that have been scheduled with effect from March 28.

In addition, the status of ongoing selection processes under Accelerated Recruitment was reviewed and all concerned were directed to expedite activities assigned to them for ensuring completion as per timelines.
