Jammu: A policeman killed his wife and parents-in-law and wounded two others in Jammu on Tuesday.
The cop fired at his wife and parents-in-law at their home in Allora village in Mandal area of Jammu and fled from the spot. He was later arrested by the police.
“He (cop) killed his wife, his parents-in-law, and wounded two others before escaping from the house,” officials said. He is posted in the security wing of the police.
Police identified the assailant as Ravinder Kumar who killed his wife Seema Kumari, father-in-law Ramesh Kumar and mother-in-law Raj Kumari.
“He came to inform us that he has got a promotion in his job,” said relatives of the deceased.
But suddenly he brandished his assault rifle and aimed at his in-laws and fired indiscriminately, they said.
They said the couple had a marital discord that culminated in the murder of his wife and parents-in-law.
A police spokesperson said today information was received at Police Post Mandal Phallain that one person namely Rajinder Kumar who is serving in the police department has fired upon his wife and parents-in-law at their home in Allora village with his service weapon. “As a result of this, his mother-in-law succumbed on the spot whereas both father-in-law and wife shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu in seriously injured conditions.”
They also succumbed to their injuries, police said. ” The accused was arrested from Gajansoo area and investigation of the case is going on,” said Inspector-General of Police in Jammu Mukesh Singh.
