Srinagar: Two policemen were critically wounded on Friday after they came under an attack from the suspected militants in Baghat locality in Srinagar.
Officials say militants fired upon the policemen at a check-post in Baghat chowk.
They said the two policemen deployed at the check-post received bullet wounds and were shifted to the SMHS hospital in critical condition.
“Terrorists attacked a police party in Barzulla area of district Srinagar. In this terror incident, 02 policemen got injured. They have been shifted to hospital for treatment. Area cordoned off. Further details shall follow,” tweeted Kashmir Zone Police.
Security forces have cordoned off the area to launch the search operation to nab the assailants.
This is the second attack since Wednesday when 23 foreign diplomats led by European Union ambassador to India Ugo Astuto arrived here for a two-day visit.
