Srinagar: Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has said 1,14,426 healthcare workers are to be vaccinated with CoVID vaccines in Jammu and Kashmir.
“All the State and Union Territories have been provided with the CoVID-19 vaccines. The target of healthcare workers to be vaccinated in J&K is 1,14,426,” reads a statement issued by Health Ministry today.
India started the world’s largest CoVID-19 vaccination program on January 16 and healthcare workers were the first to receive the jab.
It has targeted to inoculate 30 million frontline workers with OxfordAstraZeneca Covid vaccine, Covishield, and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin in the next six months.
However, on January 13 the J&K health authorities said it 1,46,500 doses of the Covishield vaccine from the Serum Institute of India (SII).
They said 79,000 were for the Kashmir division and 67,500 were for the Jammu division.
Authorities said vaccines were stored at the Divisional cold chain stores at Jammu and Kashmir divisions from where they will be distributed to all the Districts maintaining the cold chain at all levels.
“We have an adequate supply of logistics to store the vaccine. We have received Covishield from serum Institute which is to be stored in temp between 2 to 8 degrees. The state has received ice-lined refrigerators to store the stock,” Mahnoor Qadri Vaccine and Cold Chain Manager told Kashmir Review.
She said Jammu and Kashmir have three large Ice Line Refrigerators (ILRs) which have the capacity of 225 liters, which means a storage capacity of 44000-48000 doses.
“We have also received deep freezers for freezing the ice packs, as on session days the vaccine is kept inside a vaccine carrier which has four conditioned ice packs in it. The cold chain is maintained at all levels, starting from its arrival at the State vaccine store till the time it’s administered into the beneficiary,” Qadri said.
